S

tate asset fund Danantara is to announce partners for its waste-to-energy (WTE) projects in February, with initiation of the four pilot projects scheduled for March.

According to the agency’s waste-to-energy lead, Fadli Rahman, the pilot facilities will be built in Yogyakarta, Bekasi and Bogor in West Java, as well as Denpasar in Bali.

“It depends on [direction from higher up]. We are just preparing these four cities and regencies [to be ready for project launch],” Fadli told reporters on the sidelines of a WTE policy dissemination event hosted by Tenggara Strategics on Wednesday.

Jakarta and Tangerang, which face the country’s largest waste challenges, were excluded from the initial pilots because local authorities have yet to signal their readiness, Fadli said.
