atam Development Authority (BP Batam) has signed an agreement with state-owned electricity firm PLN and data center operator PT Digitalland Service One (DayOne) to build the second hyperscale data center development in the city.

The deal, which was signed on Friday, includes an Electricity Purchase Agreement (PJBTL) for the facility, which will reportedly be the largest data center customer in Indonesia, with a capacity of 450 megawatt (MW). The electricity supply will be used gradually for operational support of the DayOne data center in the Kabil Industrial Tech Park (KITP) during the period from 2026 to 2027.

BP Batam head Amsakar Achmad, who is also Batam’s mayor, emphasized infrastructure readiness and streamlined regulation as key to attracting global investors, adding that integrating land availability, legal certainty and energy reliability under BP Batam could create a competitive ecosystem at the regional level.

“BP Batam is committed to presenting a conducive investment climate through integrated permit acceleration and supporting infrastructure. This hyperscale data center project proves that Batam is ready to become the world’s digital hub,” he said in a statement on Friday.

DayOne CEO Jamie Khoo said that streamlined administrative processes provided by BP Batam were a crucial factor in the company’s decision to expand. He noted that the project could become part of a connectivity model linking Singapore, Johor in Malaysia and Batam to facilitate a cross-border data center in Southeast Asia.
