he government plans to enter an agreement with Malaysia and Singapore to develop a cross-border data center that will also serve as a buyer of clean power from Indonesia, according to Coordinating Economy Minister Airlangga Hartanto.
“We are in talks with Singapore and Malaysia to develop a trilateral data center in Indonesia, Singapore and Johor [Malaysia],” Airlangga said on Thursday, as quoted by news agency Antara.
He added that the Green Super Grid, a transmission network planned by Indonesian state-owned electricity distributor PLN to connect renewable energy sources across the archipelago, could supply clean power for the cross-border data center.
According to Airlangga, the grid will stretch from Sumatra to Nusa Tenggara and connect to Riau Islands province to supply the under-development regional data center in Batam, with a potential expansion to Bintan, both in the same province.

The senior minister also emphasized that the government was aiming to accelerate the development of solar power plants to expand renewable energy supply and make it more widely accessible.
He explained that while Indonesia’s emission-reduction targets under the “green growth” plan remain unchanged, President Prabowo Subianto had ordered the government to expedite renewable energy development.
