Music festival Berdendang Bergoyang will return for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. Taking place on Oct. 28 to 30 at Istora Senayan in Jakarta, the festival will also give back to society by donating the proceeds from ticket sales to a school renovation project in East Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, collaborating with the crowdfunding website Kitabisa.com.
“This year’s Berdendang Bergoyang will not only invite you to berdendang [singing] and bergoyang [dancing], but also create a movement along with Kitabisa to help students of SDN [primary school] Umajawa, Waingapu, East Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara Timur,” Berdendang Bergoyang posted on its social media.
The music festival will also donate stationery for the students. Berdendang Bergoyang aims to reach Rp 100 million (US$ 6,500) from ticket sales.
The decision has attracted positive comments from fans. One Instagram user with the username, @vinosefvirrano, commented, “who said watching a concert is useless? Rakyat [the people] help the rakyat.”
Around 40 performers from various musical genres are scheduled to perform, including Pamungkas, Rhoma Irama, Elvy Sukaesih, Tulus, Rossa, Vierratale and many other artists and bands.
