The Transportation Ministry's Air Transportation Director General M. Kristi Endah Murni said auditors from the ministry would conduct a check on the problematic Airbus 320-200 aircraft.
he Transportation Ministry has moved to probe an air conditioning problem onboard a Super Air Jet flight from Bali to Jakarta that caused passengers to suffer rising temperatures during a two-hour flight earlier this week.
The Transportation Ministry's Air Transportation Director General M. Kristi Endah Murni said auditors from the ministry would conduct a check on the problematic aircraft, an Airbus 320-200.
"I received information that the aircraft was having problems with its air pressure system in the cabin, causing the temperature to rise and passengers having to be inconvenienced from the excessive heat," Kristi was quoted by Kompas.com as saying.
The ministry also called on Super Air Jet to conduct an internal investigation to find the cause of the malfunctioning of the air pressure system to prevent a similar incident from happening in the future.
"I remind all operators to prioritize safety, security, service and compliance," Kristi said.
Some passengers on board the Super Air Jet flight vented their anger on social media after their flight landed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Tuesday.
In some of the videos circulating on social media, passengers could be seen fanning themselves with safety manual cards while others tried to work the overhead AC blowers.
