he National Police’s criminal investigation division (Bareskrim) has said it will question former deputy law minister Denny Indrayana for his alleged role in leaking details of a purported forthcoming Constitutional Court ruling that would, if genuine, end the current direct system of legislative elections.
Bareskrim head Comr. Gen. Agus Andrianto said on Friday that investigators were looking into the possible role Denny had played in spreading hoaxes that could lead to public disorder.
"What the National Police chief has ordered is clear, that we must look into the report [to see] if it has caused public disorder or not," Agus said, as quoted by Kompas.com.
As for when Denny would be summoned for questioning, Agus said investigators had their own timetable.
"In time, he will be brought in for questioning," the senior police official said.
Earlier on Friday, National Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Sandi Nugroho said police investigators had received complaints about the alleged leak and Denny’s possible involvement in the case.
