P

resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said he would hold a meeting with Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto to seek clarification about some of the key points the latter delivered at the 2023 IISS Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, especially on his proposal for peace in Ukraine.

Jokowi said Prabowo did not communicate with him regarding the peace plan and that it came directly from the senior minister himself.

"It came from Pak Prabowo. I haven't spoken with him. I will invite him for a meeting today or tomorrow. I will ask for an explanation for what the defense minister has said," President Jokowi told reporters on the sidelines of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) leadership meeting on Tuesday.

In his speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue on Saturday, Prabowo proposed a peace plan to end the war in Ukraine, calling for a demilitarized zone and a United Nations referendum in what he called “disputed territory.”

Prabowo called on defense and military officials from around the world who were gathered at Asia’s premier defense summit to issue a declaration calling for a cessation in hostilities.

He proposed a multi-point plan including a ceasefire and establishing a demilitarized zone by withdrawing 15 kilometers from each party's forward position.
