Airlangga said that a meeting of the party's advisory council on Sunday was not convened to draw up a plan to change the party's stance on nominating him as the party's sole presidential candidate.
olkar Party chairman Airlangga Hartarto said on Monday that there was no immediate plan to hold an extraordinary meeting to decide who the party will back as presidential candidate in the 2024 election.
Airlangga said that a meeting of the party's advisory council on Sunday was not convened to draw up a plan to change the party's stance on nominating him as the party's sole presidential candidate.
"There's no such a thing. That's not on the agenda," Airlangga said, as quoted by Antara.
The senior minister also maintained that Golkar remained solid behind him in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election.
"In order of importance, the highest decision-making mechanisms are the national meeting, leadership meeting and national working meeting," Airlangga said.
Earlier on Sunday, members of Golkar's advisory council held a meeting at the private residence of the council chairman Agung Laksono.
Speaking after the meeting, one member of the advisory council, Ridwan Hisjam, claimed that one of the key items on the agenda of the meeting was reconsidering Airlangga's nomination as the party's presidential candidate.
