The opposition front-runner has become the latest politician to obtain his letter of good conduct, one of the KPU's requirements for aspiring candidates of the 2024 presidential election.
The South Jakarta Police have issued a letter of good conduct for opposition figurehead Anies Baswedan, stating that the former Jakarta Governor is fit to run for president in the 2024 presidential election.
Issued by the National Police’s Security Intelligence Agency (Baintelkam), the letter is among the documentation required by the General Elections Commission (KPU) from potential candidates to register for the presidential race.
"Baintelkam has issued the letter of good behavior for presumptive nominee Anies Baswedan," National Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ahmad Ramadan said on Monday.
The letter was issued shortly after Anies submitted his request on Monday at the Baintelkam headquarters in Cilandak, South Jakarta.
Anies’ registered domicile is in the local subdistrict of Lebak Bulus.
Ramadan said the former Jakarta governor was the latest politician to obtain a letter of good conduct to fulfill the KPU’s requirements after Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, who obtained his letter early last week.
Former Central Java governor Ganjar Pranowo as well as National Awakening Party (PKB) chairman Muhaimin Iskandar, Anies' running mate, have also received their letters of good conduct.
