The alleged assault sparked widespread public scrutiny of Dedy's annual wealth report (LHKPN), with observers noting a rapid accumulation of wealth in recent years that exceeded what his official salary should provide.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has opened an investigation into the wealth of Dedy Mandarsyah, who leads the West Kalimantan office of the Public Works Ministry’s National Road Implementation Center (BPJN), following a viral assault case involving members of his family and his driver.
The alleged assault sparked widespread public scrutiny of Dedy's annual wealth report (LHKPN), with observers noting a rapid accumulation of wealth in recent years that exceeded what his official salary should provide.
KPK director for LHKPN registration and investigation Herda Helmijaya said the graft-busting agency found several anomalies in Dedy's wealth report.
"We're currently analyzing these anomalies. Once we gather enough data we'll decide whether we need to summon [Dedy] and other related parties for questioning," Herda said on Sunday, as reported by kompas.com.
Herda added that Dedy's name had also come up last year in a bribery case pertaining to road construction and maintenance projects in West Kalimantan. The case involved several other officials at the Public Works Ministry as well.
According to Dedy's LHKPN reports, his fortunes almost tripled in seven years, rising from Rp 3.8 billion (US$237,000) in 2016 to Rp 9.4 billion in 2023.
