he Agrarian and Spatial Planning Ministry/National Land Agency (BPN) has canceled hundreds of right-to-build permits (HGB) and land ownership certificates (SHM) in areas onshore from the illegal sea fence in the coastal waters of Tangerang regency, Banten, citing procedural errors.
BPN head Nusron Wahid explained on Wednesday that the majority of the permits were invalid as they covered areas off the coast.
“Based on the Government Regulation No. 15/2021, the ministry can revoke certificates under five years old without court approval,” Nusron said.
The BPN would further conduct a thorough investigation into anyone involved in the documents’ issuance to see whether there was “a violation of the code of ethics or discipline”.
Previously, Nusron revealed that a company called PT Intan Agung Makmur held HGB to 234 of the 263 land plots on the shore facing the 30-kilometer-long bamboo structure allegedly built to lay the groundwork for a massive reclamation project.
Another company, PT Cahaya Inti Sentosa, owns HGB permits to 20 plots of land, while the remaining plots are owned by unnamed individuals. In addition to that, authorities have issued SHM for 17 plots of land in the area.
