The Denpasar Immigration Office in Bali detained a British citizen for illegally opening a motorbike rental business, despite only holding a visitor visa.
British citizen, identified only as KSM, has been detained by immigration authorities in Bali for abuse of his stay permit.
Officials said KSM had been advertising and renting out motorcycles to foreigners despite only holding a visitor visa that does not allow business activities.
"The person misused his stay permit by promoting and renting out motorcycles," said Denpasar Immigration Office head Ridha Sah Puta on Tuesday, as quoted by Kompas.com.
The suspect operated a motorbike rental business in Nusa Penida and charged Rp 150,000 (US$9.20) for daily rentals.
KSM had reportedly been running the business for one and a half years, and rented an average of three to four motorbikes per day.
The case came to light when local residents filed complaints after feeling disadvantaged by KSM's business operations.
