NU pledges full support for Prabowo's administration, aiming to boost national welfare for a more prosperous Indonesia.
ahdlatul Ulama (NU) chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf, known as Gus Yahya, has affirmed the readiness of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization to support President Prabowo Subianto's administration in implementing its programs.
"We are fully prepared to support the government's agenda and programs," Gus Yahya said during the 102nd anniversary celebration of NU, at Istora Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, as quoted by Kompas.com.
"This support aims to ensure the benefits and welfare derived from these programs truly reach the people. God willing, we will continue to work alongside the community for the betterment of Indonesia.”
Gus Yahya also mentioned that NU will synergize with Prabowo's Asta Cita program by collaborating with several ministries.
"We are signing memorandums of understanding [MoUs] with the Coordinating Human Development and Culture Ministry, the National Population and Family Planning Board chairman, the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry, the Human Rights Ministry, [state-owned food distribution public corporation] Perum Bulog and governor of the National Resilience Institute," Gus Yahya detailed.
During the anniversary commemoration, NU also signed an MoU with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The partnership with the BGN specifically supports the free nutritious meals program, with Prabowo in attendance to witness the agreement.
"We are forming an acceleration team for the free nutritious meals program and working with the BGN to contribute to its success. Community-based activities will continue," Gus Yahya emphasized.
Prabowo, in his address, congratulated NU on its 102nd anniversary, acknowledging NU's significant role and contribution to establishing Indonesia as a nation.
“On behalf of myself and the government of the Republic of Indonesia, I once again congratulate NU. NU has made a great contribution to the birth of the Indonesian nation," the President remarked, as reported on the Cabinet Secretariat’s official release.
The celebration was also attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, former vice president Ma'ruf Amin, ministers, ambassadors, Indonesian Military commander Gen. Agus Subiyanto and National Police chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
