The province's capital, Bandar Lampung, was the hardest hit by the disaster, as flooding submerged more than 14,000 homes and impacted over 11,200 residents.

"Sixteen people were confirmed dead. For injured victims, 10 have been referred to hospitals and the nearest community health centre," Adj. Sr. Comr. Doni Prakoso, police chief in Pekalongan city, told local broadcaster Metro TV. 

A total of 14 people were reported missing in the devastating incident, but as of Monday rescuers had only located and recovered the bodies of eight victims.
