pp Annie, an analysis tool for apps, recently revealed that YouTube is the most popular social media app used by Indonesian’s on their smartphones, leaving Facebook and Twitter behind. The information was released in App Annie’s May 2016 report.
The revelation that Indonesian smartphone users use YouTube more than any other social media platform is quite surprising, said Thomas Jul, president director of Ericsson Indonesia.

The number of Indonesian YouTube ‘unique users’ or unique visitors surpassed any other application, added Jul. In May 2016, YouTube topped the list of the five most popular social media used in Indonesia, based on its active user numbers.
WhatsApp, BBM, Google, and LINE are listed beneath YouTube, Jun commented. "I don’t know exactly how BBM has managed to survive in Indonesia,” he added. Presently, the application is used by Indonesian Android users.
He also admitted that there has been an increase in the number of BBM users because the BlackBerry messenger application has been made available for use on other platforms. “It seems that BBM will last for quite some time,” he said to kompas.com. (msj/asw)
