ust days after Anniesa Hasibuan debuted her Muslim fashion line at New York Fashion Week, another Indonesian fashion designer, Rinda Salmun, is gearing up for the upcoming LA Fashion week to showcase her work.

“Everything is possible. The channels to go global is open for people from anywhere in the world,”  Rinda told antaranews.com.

Rinda will unveil her designs at Los Angeles Fashion Week 2017 along with other Indonesian designers, namely Ivan Gunawan, Oscar Lawalata, Nonita Respati and Aurelia Santoso.

According to Rinda, the international market only sees the design quality and does not discriminate to where the designer comes from. Aside from ensuring consistency in quality, she said designers need stronger efforts in marketing to be able to go international.

“To reach international markets takes public relations and marketing efforts. So far, I have my marketing people to promote my work so potential buyers can see.”

LA Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017 will be held at the end of September until October 2016. Rinda will showcase her work with beautiful woven materials from Garut, West Java. Rinda’s collection consists of 50 pieces which include tops, blazers, cut-out pieces and skirts.

“I aim to sell my work and also introduce Indonesian designers who use Indonesian materials,” Rinda said. (asw)
