member of the Toyota Team Indonesia-Toyota Racing Development (TTI-TRD), Alinka Hardianti from Indonesia, became the only female driver from outside Japan to compete in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Netz Cup Vitz Race 2016 at Fuji Speedway Circuit, Japan, on Sunday.
A newcomer to the Fuji Speedway, Alinka competed in the grand finale against 45 other racers. According to Antara news agency, she started in 36th position but finished 24th in two minutes and 27 seconds, although she had only trained once on the circuit due to snow.
“Participating in an international event like this is certainly a good way to train and improve Alinka’s ability, considering how competitive other racers from other countries are,” said PT Toyota Astra Motor vice president Henry Tanoto.

Alinka’s performance is expected to motivate other young Indonesian racers to compete in the event in the future. “Aside from providing an opportunity for other young talents from Indonesia, this will surely also motivate them,” said Henry. “This shows that young Indonesian talents are capable of participating in international events.”
Born in 1992, Alinka has been involved in the professional racing scene since the age of 14 under the mentorship of her father, professional racer Didi Hardianto. Her career started in drifting and slalom competitions, where she emerged as a champion.
Alinka has been part of TTI since 2008. (wir/kes)
