t's quite possible that no culinary tradition is more thoroughly American than the barbecue, with its different variants creating intense arguments and even more intense blood pressure issues across the United States. This is one fine example of the smoked meat arts from the city of Jakarta.

While we don't necessarily expect you to agree that smoked barbecued brisket is the best meal in the world, we do expect you to get quite hungry reading about Holy Smokes.

There's a good chance you'll be waiting for a table at this restaurant, but there's also a good chance there'll be good music playing to help you pass the time until you can sit down and dig into some fall-off-the-bone ribs and moist BBQ brisket, all of which marries nicely with their well-balanced sauce.

Offering two types of meat, From The Pit means smoked and From The Grill means – obviously – grilled, Holy Smokes is serious when saying it adapts Texas-style smoking and grilling. Here, to achieve its greatest taste, the smoked barbecue briskets are processed using the finest fruity woods, taking from three to 14 hours to make.

Lauded as one of the best BBQs in the city, Holy Smokes is like the platonic ideal of brisket: The caramelized candy fat, crispy salt and pepper-rubbed bark and meltingly tender smoke-kissed meat form a perfect union of brain-stopping deliciousness.

The bark from the smoking process rubs deep into the meat, leaving a tender smoke ring with reddish-brown colors that invites people to dig deep into the beauty of it. As for the grilled dishes, apparently the fire and charcoal create a full-on gritty, yet crispy texture on the outside, leaving a tender brisket on the inside.

One of the most important parts of a good BBQ is, of course, the sauce. With 18 secret ingredients, the place manufactures two different types of sauce: BBQ Sauce Smoky Hot for those who like things a bit spicy and Smoky Original.

When visiting this restaurant with your family, try ordering their Family Package menu, which comes with 500 grams of Smoky Wagyu Brisket with BBQ Sauce Smoky Hot on top. The Ribs and Chicken Grill is also considered good.

The beef ribs will make you feel like a caveman gourmand, an fruity-involving rub gives the tender pork belly a unique kick, and the charred, fatty top layer of the brisket will melt in your mouth. The Chicken Grill -- especially that crisp skin -- is unbelievably moist as well, and if you're feeling particularly Southern, it all goes down smooth with a side of French fries, Mac 'n' Cheese, Corn, Onion Rings or your favorite salad.
