Nearly a decade since the release of the final book, the Harry Potter series continues to thrive on both stage and screen.
Still, some fans aren’t satisfied. Indie film studio Tryangle Films has just released its trailer for Voldemort: Origins of the Heir, a fan-made prequel to the series.
“What made Tom Riddle become Voldemort? What happened in those years, and what really went down at Hogwarts when he came back? There are some clues in the books which have not been transposed at all in the movies, but a lot goes unspoken. This is the story we want to tell: the rise of the Dark Lord before Harry Potter and his first demise,” reads the synopsis of the film on the Tryangle Films website.
Voldemort: Origins of the Heir takes place in 1943 and follows Gryffindor Grisha McLaggen Jr in her attempt to uncover the killer in the Hepzibah Smith murder.

In addition to Tom Riddle, familiar faces from Harry’s world will make appearances, including Grindelwald.
In a statement to Buzzfeed, the filmmakers have said they have an agreement with Warner Bros that will allow them to release the full film for free on YouTube, though Warner Bros has not yet confirmed. (sul/kes)
