Following its first Southeast Asian release in Thailand in June, Linux-based operating system Endless OS is now available in Indonesia.

According to kompas.com, the system, created by San Francisco-based tech company Endless Computers, has an intuitive user interface similar to that of a smartphone.

The Debian and Gnome software-based system is equipped with more than 100 pre-loaded apps, including a Wikipedia-based encyclopedia, games for children and articles of various topics. The OS is also equipped with tools to create documents, spreadsheets, presentations and 3D prototypes, as well as a photo and video editor and music player.

“Endless OS comes with valuable pre-loaded content that can be accessed without an internet connection, and is designed to optimize internet consumption during downloads and updates despite poor internet connection,” Endless Computers wrote in an official statement.

The system is also said to be able to support Steam, a gaming platform by Valve Corporation that offers access to more than 1,800 games, such as Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2.

Aside from being available for free download on its official website, Endless OS is also pre-installed and available in Asus and Acer laptops. (mas/kes)
