Is it time for Elsa of the animated movie “Frozen” to let it go because she can’t hold it back anymore?

It seems that previous petitions from fans to let the Queen of Arendelle be the first lesbian Disney character are being weighed by the movie’s director, Jennifer Lee.

While promoting her new upcoming flick “A Wrinkle in Time,” Lee said, “I love everything people are saying [and] people are thinking about with our film ― that it’s creating dialogue,” she told The Huffington Post on Monday when asked of the possibility. “It means the world to us that we’re part of these conversations.”

“Where we’re going with it, we have tons of conversations about it, and we’re really conscientious about these things,” the “Frozen” director added. “For me … Elsa’s every day telling me where she needs to go, and she’ll continue to tell us. I always write from character-out, and where Elsa is and what Elsa’s doing in her life, she’s telling me every day. We’ll see where we go.”

In 2016, actress Idina Menzel also said that she’d be “really happy” about the idea of having her character openly gay.

“Maybe at first I was a little surprised because it’s Disney, but I can say that I’m excited that the conversation is happening,” she told PrideSource. “I can’t promise anybody that that’s what’s gonna happen… But deep down am I really happy that it’s causing people to talk about it and have these kinds of conversations? Yeah, I am.”

The petition in May 2016 when the hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend became a trending topic on Twitter, and some cited that the song “Let It Go” became an anthem for the LGBT community about “coming out.”

While there is no confirmation about whether or not Elsa will have a female love interest, expect to see her, Anna and the rest of the “Frozen” gang as the sequel hits theaters in November 2019.
