HBO has announced that the Westworld series is slated to be renewed for a third season following its season two premiere.
Casey Bloys, president of HBO programming, said, "It’s been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew.”
"From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us,” he added.
Westworld season two began airing in Asia on April 23.
A dark science fiction western thriller about artificial consciousness inside a theme park, Westworld debuted in October 2016.

Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the show became HBO’s most-watched freshman series ever.
Dubbed by Time magazine as "one of the biggest shows on earth", Westworld received a barrage of praise and compliments from the media. It was hailed by Entertainment Weekly as a "brilliant" and "enthralling" show. Newdays called it "explosive", "smart" and "engaging", while The Hollywood Reporter called the series thrilling" and "massively entertaining".
The team behind the series includes executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who work with JJ Abrams, Richard J. Lewis, Roberto Patino, Athena Wickham and Ben Stephenson. The companies behind this production include Kilter Films and Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
The second season of Westworld can be watched at the same time as the US every Monday at 8 a.m. It will also be available on HBO On Demand. (ely/wng)
