ritically-acclaimed indie rock band Vampire Weekend have given an update on the progress of their next album, a follow-up to the widely-praised 2013 record Modern Vampires of the City.

Responding to a fan query on the comment section of the band's Instagram post, the band said they had finished 94.5 percent of the album.

The band added that they would hold an intimate concert in California on June 16 and 17 and planned to debut new music at these shows.

Vampire Weekend also teased a poster for the shows, which features a new logo for the band and that of the record label Sony Music.

After recording their first three records with indie label XL Recordings, Vampire Weekend joined major label Sony in 2016.

In September last year, Vampire Weekend said they had completed 80 percent of their new album.

The new album will mark the first time the New York band recorded without their keyboard player Rostam Batmanglij, who quit the band in 2016.

The band's self-titled debut, with hits like "A-Punk" and "Oxford Comma", was hailed as one of the first truly great records of the new millennium.
