Skype users no longer have to rely on third-party apps to record calls.
Nearly 15 years after its launch, Skype is finally adding a feature to record calls, reports The Verge.
The feature will come later this month. For years, Skype users have been relying on third-party applications like Avaer to record calls.
The new feature will be cloud-based so it can be implemented easily on numerous operating systems, like Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and Linux.

During the recording, all parties to the call will be notified. The recording will combine everyone’s video as well as any screens shared during the call.
“Call recording is completely cloud-based, and as soon as you start recording, everyone in the call is notified that the call is being recorded,” states Microsoft’s Skype team.
Besides the development of the call recording feature, Microsoft has also begun to experiment with a new Skype Content Creator mode and given the desktop version a mobile-like design. (anm/mut)
