The 86th edition of international footwear exhibition MICAM Milano will be held on Sept. 16-19 in Fiera Milano in Milan, Italy.

Themed “Envy”, the biannual event will preview Spring/Summer 2019 designs and footwear trends.

The exhibition is not limited to Italian or European footwear manufacturers, but will also feature international shoe designers, Matteo Scarparo, a business manager from the Italian Footwear Manufacturers’ Association, said on Thursday.

“MICAM [is] open for worldwide players,” he told The Jakarta Post, explaining that Indonesian shoes designers or manufacturers are also welcome to participate in the event.

Scaparo said international designers could participate in the Emerging Designers Area, but must first apply and go through a selection process.

“We [select] 20 to 25 designers [for each exhibition],” Scaparo said, adding that the Indonesian government or fashion council could also get an area to showcase local designers.

He added that the event previously provided a similar concept for Japan, India and Ethiopia.
