Instagram has set up a form you can easily access and fill online to verify your account.
erified accounts on various social media platforms have long helped users identify the real accounts of public figures and brands.
Kompas.com reports that Instagram has made the process of getting verified easier.
Previously, those who wanted to be verified had to send a request to the Instagram help page.
Fortunately, the social media application set up a form you can easily access and fill online for you to verify your account.
The form can be accessed through your profile. Under the profile menu, select “settings”, which is represented by the gear icon, and tap “request verification”. Then, a form will appear asking for your username, full name and a file attachment of your business ID.
However, filling in the form does not guarantee your immediate verification. Kompas.com received an official statement informing it that Instagram would first review the submitted request.
Some of Instagram’s verification criteria include authenticity, completeness and how much effort the user puts into the account.

As for authenticity, Instagram will first verify whether there is a real person, business, or entity behind the account. In terms of completeness, it will examine the account’s public profile, biography, profile photo and at least one post.
Finally, the worth of an account is measured based on how often people search for it. Except for publishers or mass media, Instagram will consider the news content published on the account.
You will be notified of Instagram's decision to verify your account once the entire process is complete.
In order to save you some time, Instagram suggests reading its terms and conditions as well as its community guide.
"Our community asked us for more transparency around this issue, and with today’s announcement we’re sharing clear details about verification requirements and eligibility criteria,” Instagram Asia Pacific strategic partner manager Nicci Meek said in a statement.
“This new feature will allow our community the opportunity to apply for verification themselves, and understand the process behind getting verified on Instagram. We believe opening up verification to the public will also work towards safeguarding our community,” she continued.
It has been confirmed that this service is free of charge. (saz/kes)
