Fans of Pokémon Go may rejoice as its developer Niantic is set to add a new feature that allows them to enjoy the game without having to actually use their smartphone.

As reported by The Verge, the “adventure sync” enables users to "record their steps in the background", which is a significant update as previously their phone's had to be awake in order to make progress in hatching eggs.

The new update will also sync phones with Pokémon Go with HealthKit on iOS and Android’s Google Fit. The added feature will also help trainers earn more candy.

“Plus, Adventure Sync will deliver a weekly summary, where you can see your Incubator and Candy progress as well as important activity statistics,” reads a twitter post on @PokémonGoNews.

"Yessss! Now I can finally stop losing walking progress when the app suddenly decides to turn off or disconnect from my plus!" a fan of the game, @Skyogurt, replied enthusiastically on the platform. (acr/kes)
