A trailer is out for the first live-action Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu.
Warner Bros Pictures released the first trailer for Detective Pikachu on Monday.
The trailer shows Pokémon aficionado Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) meeting a deerstalker-wearing Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds). Tim holds a stapler towards the yellow Pokémon, only for it to threaten him to “Put down the stapler, or I will electrocute you!”
Realizing that Tim could understand him, Pikachu is thrilled, because everyone else only hears “Pika Pika”, the only words the Pokémon speaks in the original anime. Bits of the plot are also revealed, such as the disappearance of Tim’s dad and Tim’s failed endeavor to become a Pokémon trainer.
