The majority of people donate money or goods to charities. Unfortunately, money is not always the answer.

Alfatih Timur, the CEO of online fund-raising platform Kitabisa.com, said during a press conference on Tuesday, that around 40 percent of fund-raising programs on its website were related to health and medical expenses.

“Many [recipients] use the donation to purchase drugs that are not being covered by the Healthcare and Social Security Agency [BPJS Kesehatan],” said Alfatih.

With that in mind, Kitabisa.com, in collaboration with online marketplace for medicine GoApotik, has launched the #KitaPercayaBerbagai program, allowing people to donate medical supplies or equipment online.

According to kompas.com, the program can be accessed via GoApotik’s website and application.

Those who want to donate medical supplies can check the list of the recipients at GoApotik’s platform.

These recipients have been validated by Kitabisa.com and those who donate can choose anyone from the list.

#KitaPercayaBerbagi comes with several packages, with costs between Rp 100,000 (US$6.76) and 700,000. Meanwhile, the delivery fee to the recipient address has been covered by GoApotik.

GoApotik head Muhamad Salahuddin said many patients found difficulty in getting certain medications. GoApotik is partnering with trusted pharmacies, allowing users to get access to medications, even for rare diseases. (jes/kes)
