Dumbo is a live-action remake of Disney’s 1941 classic of the same title. The original won an Oscar for scoring in a musical picture, as well as a nomination for original song.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory director Tim Burton leads the project, Variety reports.
Burton has worked with Disney on several projects, such as The Nightmare Before Christmas and the Alice in Wonderland series.
The official synopsis states that a circus owner (Danny DeVito) enlists former star (Colin Farrell) and his children (Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant who gets teased for his oversized ears.
Discovering that Dumbo can fly, the circus thrives once more. This attracted an entrepreneur (Michael Keaton) who recruits Dumbo for his entertainment venture Dreamland, which hides dark secrets.
