ndonesian short film Kado (Gift) by Aditya Ahmad is set to be screened for the first time in the United States at the 2019 Sundance International Film Festival.
The festival is slated to run from Jan. 24 to Feb. 3 in Park City, Utah.
Co-producer Mira Lesmana shared the good news on her official Instagram account on Tuesday.
"YAY! We are proud to announce that KADO by Aditya Ahmad will have its American Premiere at SUNDANCE International Film Festival," she captioned the post.
She also encouraged the public in Yogyakarta to watch the last screening of the film at the Jogja Netpac Asian Film Festival on Dec. 4 at Cinemaxx Lippo Mall.

Kado was previously named Best Short Film at the 2018 Venice International Film Festival in Italy for the Orizzonti section. Aditya is said to be the only Indonesian filmmaker participating at the event.
Co-produced by Riri Riza, the 15-minute short film tells the story of Isfi (played by Isfi Febiana) and her enthusiasm in celebrating the birthday of Nita (Anita Aqshary). In order to prepare a special gift in Nita's room, Isfi is required to don a long skirt and a hijab. (kes)
