he Miss Universe beauty pageant has been held since 1952 to celebrate the beautiful diversity of women and to celebrate their contributions to society. Every country that participates in the pageant is represented by women who embody their nation in beauty, attitude and passion.
The Philippines, the country currently holding the title of Miss Universe, already reigns in the top five with three previous wins. The pageant’s most recent victor, 24-year-old Catriona Gray, contributes yet another win for the Southeast Asian archipelago as she was crowned the 67th Miss Universe on Dec. 18 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The United States tops the list with eight wins, beginning with Miriam Stevenson in 1954. Their most recent Miss Universe is Olivia Culpo, who held the title in 2012. (acr/kes)
