Musician Dian Pramana Poetra passes away at 57

The winner of the Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI) Award in 2015 was diagnosed with stage four leukemia.

Musician Dian Pramana Poetra passed away on Thursday at 8:50 p.m. after being diagnosed with stage four leukemia. 

The winner of the Anugerah Musik Indonesia (AMI) Award in 2015 reportedly felt weak and suffered from pain in his back and stomach last Friday. At the time, he was in Banyuwangi, East Java, together with fellow musician Deddy Dhukun, tribunnews.com reported. 

Dian was admitted to a hospital in East Jakarta, but he requested to go home. “Actually he wasn’t allowed to go home,” said Deddy who was also Dian's partner in the duo 2D.

He was laid to rest in Tebet, South Jakarta.

Dian gained popularity with Deddy in the 1980s. Together, the duo released four albums, namely Keraguan (Doubt), Masih Ada (It’s Still There), Sebelum Aku Pergi (Before I Leave) and Peluklah Diriku (Hug Me). He also formed a trio named K3S with Deddy and Bagus A.A. (wir/kes)
