"Dilan 1990" tops the list of most-viewed Indonesian films in 2018.
he Indonesian movie database website Filmindonesia.or.id has released a list of the 15 most-viewed local films in 2018, based on data from theater chains and film producers.
Dilan 1990, adapted from a novel written by Pidi Baiq, tops the list after amassing 6.3 million viewers. Directed by Fajar Bustomi and Pidi Baiq, it tells about the romantic relationship between senior high school students Dilan (Iqbaal Ramadhan) and Milea (Vanesha Prescilla) in Bandung, West Java, in 1990. Its sequel, Dilan 1991, is planned for release this year.
Dilan 1990 is followed by horror film Suzzanna: Bernapas dalam Kubur (Suzzanna: Breathing inside the Grave), which ranks second with 3.3 million moviegoers. Released in November and starring actress Luna Maya, Suzzanna is a reboot of horror movies starred by the late Indonesian horror queen Suzzanna, famous in the 1970s.

Another horror flick, Danur 2: Maddah, is in third place with 2.5 million viewers. (wir/wng)
