BLACKPINK will perform at the popular American festival Coachella Valley Music and Arts.
The band’s label YG Entertainment on Thursday said the four-piece K-pop girl group is scheduled to perform at the two-weekend event set to be held in Southern California in April.
The band, the first K-pop group to headline the festival, will share the stage with big-name artists, such as Ariana Grande, Janelle Monae, The 1975, Solange, Kid Cudi, Khalid and Zedd.
It has been reported that Coachella founder Paul Tollett visited Korea himself to invite the act to the festival.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Coachella 2019 will take place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, from April 12-14, and then for a second weekend from April 19-21.
BLACKPINK will perform on April 12 and 19.
In October last year, BLACKPINK teamed up with Interscope Records, one of the biggest music labels under the US-based Universal Music Group, in a bid to step up its efforts to expand in the global market. Yang Hyun-suk, the founder of YG, had also shared his vision to use the deal to promote BLACKPINK in North American and European territories.
