Nawangsih, a horror drama series created by Indonesian musician Melly Goeslaw, is available on MAXstream, the video-streaming app from mobile network operator Telkomsel.

Produced by Hedy Suryawan and featuring a film score from Anto Hoed, Nawangsih is the story of the family of Arya (Mario Lawalata) and Kiran (Ririn Ekawati), who move to an old house with their daughters Srimaya (Benaya Farah) and Nawangsih (Gisellma and Chrissie). One day, little Nawangsih finds an ancient lamp, and her life changes forever as she discovers an unusual relationship with a ghost inside the lamp.

The first and second episodes of Nawangsih dropped on MAXstream on Wednesday, while the next eight episodes will be released on Thursdays at 8 p.m. in the app.

Nawangsih is the result of collaboration between Telkomsel and pay-TV provider Astro. Agnes Rozario, Astro’s director of content, said they were committed to releasing more content of a similar type with the same partner.

“We aim to repeat the success of our previous Indonesian productions, Gantung [Hang] and Dosa [Sin],” Rozario said in an official statement. “We’ve compiled intellectual property content that with a potential for development in other genres and formats, from series to short digital shows.”

MAXstream introduced its first original series in 2018, crime thriller Brata, featuring Oka Antara and Laura Basuki. The series has been watched by more than 1 million viewers since its premiere in September.

MAXstream can be downloaded on Google Play and Apple Store. (wir/wng)
