The Sherlock Holmes threequel will once again star Robert Downey Jr. as the iconic British detective and Jude Law as his famous sidekick, Dr. Watson, with a script by Chris Brancato.

The new release date will mark 10 years since the first sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, was released. The 2011 film earned more than $545.4 million at the worldwide box office. The first film of the series, Sherlock Holmes, was released on Dec. 25, 2009 and made $524 million globally.
Partnering with Village Roadshow Pictures, Warner Bros has not yet named the director of Sherlock Holmes 3. The two previous Sherlock Holmes movies were directed by Guy Ritchie. (sop/mut)
