-commerce platform Lazada celebrates its seventh anniversary on Tuesday at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD in South Tangerang.
The Lazada Super Party features a number of celebrities from various countries, including British singer Dua Lipa, Indonesian star Agnez Mo, Indonesian DJ Dipha Barus, Filipino actress and singer Nadine Lustre and Vietnamese singer Dong Nhi.
The event also presents TV host and eco-activist Nadya Hutagalung, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Vietnamese comedian Tran Tanh and host Allan Wu.
Lazada had shared free tickets online since several days ago, but those who want to join the celebration can stream it online via the e-commerce firm's app. For the first time, the concert will be broadcast live in six countries, namely Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand.
“We’re expecting millions of our Southeast Asian customers to watch our stream tonight,” said Monika Rudijono, chief marketing officer of Lazada Indonesia, at a press conference on Tuesday at ICE BSD in Tangerang.

Monika explained the reason why they chose Lipa. “This event’s theme is ‘Our Birthday, Your Party’, so we’d like to feature sought-after artists [like Lipa]. She also just won at the Brit Awards and Grammy Awards,” Monika said. “But aside from Dua Lipa, it’s important for us to feature representations from different Southeast Asian countries in which our platform operates.”
The singer of “New Rules” and “One Kiss” is expected to perform around eight songs tonight.
Tran Tanh, who will also be one of tonight’s hosts, expressed his excitement. “I’m very glad to be here at this very special occasion. […] I hope you enjoy [the event] tonight,” Tanh said.
At the same occasion, Lazada will also launch its shoppentertainment concept that merges shopping and entertainment. It allows its Southeast Asian customers to access the app while watching live streams. The e-commerce company also will also be presenting games that can be played on its platform with vouchers as prizes.
Furthermore, Lazada plans to expand its live streaming channel. “We’re not only limiting it to content created by Lazada, but we’re also opening it to our brand and sale partners to create their own content on our live streaming channels. Therefore, they can really engage with their customers better and our content will become more varied,” Monika said. (kes)
