aman Safari Indonesia (TSI) announced on Thursday that its latest conservation program will focus on the Javan hawk-eagle following the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the zoo and truck and bus manufacturer Hino Indonesia at the park in Cisarua, Bogor, West Java.
A representative of the TSI board of directors Biswajit Guha is hopeful the initiative could help maintain the richness of Indonesia's biodiversity.

“One of Indonesia’s most priceless natural treasures is the Javan hawk-eagle. Currently the bird’s population is estimated to be only 300-500 individuals, and is continuing to decrease, putting it at risk of extinction,” Biswajit said in a statement as quoted by tempo.co.
The government declared the bird an endangered species through Presidential Decree No.4/1993.
Hino Indonesia general manager Bagas Krishnamurti said the conservation collaboration consisted of two main programs, namely breeding and researching the animal’s reproduction habits.
“This collaboration aims to increase the Javan hawk-eagle population so that future generations will be able to see them too,” said Bagas. (gis/kes)
