Japan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, in collaboration with the Japanese Foundation, has announced the 13th International Manga Award competition, which will run from April to June.

Interested participants are encouraged to submit their work to the Japanese Embassy at Jl. M. H. Thamrin 24 in Central Jakarta. The deadline for entries is June 14.

The winner will be awarded the Gold Award, while three runner-ups will receive the Silver Awards.

In addition, Gold and Silver Award winners will be invited to Japan to attend an award ceremony and have the opportunity to speak with renowned manga artists and publishers.

Winners of the competition will be announced in December, while the ceremony is set to take place in February next year.

The International Manga Award was established by Japan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry in 2007 for the purpose of expanding international cultural exchange. Last year, it received 331 entries from 68 countries and territories. (rfa/wng)
