Indonesian fans go wild over ‘Avengers: Endgame’ presale tickets

One theater chain is set to screen the film for 24 hours, starting from 5 a.m. on April 24, at 12 locations.

Presale tickets for the highly-anticipated film Avengers: Endgame went on sale Tuesday morning.

Fans could not contain their excitement. Some tried to purchase tickets from the websites of local theater chains as early as possible and some even stayed up past midnight to do so. 

Celeste Koay, chief marketing officer of movie theater chain Cinemaxx, told The Jakarta Post via email that as of  7 a.m., the theater chain had sold 18,000 tickets during advance sales.

For the premiere, Cinemaxx is set to screen the film for 24 hours, starting from 5 a.m. on April 24, at 12 locations, including Maxbox Lippo Village in Tangerang, Banten, Sun Plaza Medan in North Sumatra, Palembang Icon in Palembang, South Sumatra and more.

For the first show alone in Cinemaxx Maxxbox Lippo Village, the cinema chain sold 400 tickets.

Koay said,”We are catering to the needs of our guests who have been eagerly anticipating the Avengers: Endgame opening on April 24. It has never been done before in the movie scene here and we thought why not. Let’s revolutionize the cinema-going experience in Indonesia.”

“The notion of showing it at 5 a.m. offers our guests the opportunity to be first ones to watch it in Indonesia,” said Koay,” [The] last [time] we checked, Indonesia will be the first in the region to catch Avengers: Endgame ahead of its neighbors, Singapore and Malaysia.”

Koay also said there would be free coffee, parking and goodies to be given away for ticket holders of showtimes between 12 a.m. and 10 a.m. (kes)
