Podcast enthusiasts are in for a treat as online music streaming service JOOX Indonesia has announced a slew of new original podcasts set to arrive on the platform this month.

The collection of podcasts, dubbed JOOX the Series, consists of three new scripted shows featuring up-and-coming local stars and filmmakers.

Director Anggy Umbara helms "Mata & Mantra", a horror-themed show revolving around a girl’s quest to uncover the truth of supernatural phenomena that have haunted her since her childhood. The show features the voice of actress Shareefa Daanish.

Meanwhile, filmmaking duos Angga Dwimas Sasongko-Anggia Kharisma and Gina S. Noer-Salman Aristo lend their dramatic chops to slice-of-life shows "Bridezilla" and "Klub Kecanduan Mantan", respectively.

Actors Jessica Mila and Rio Dewanto headline "Bridezilla", while singers Vidi Aldiano and Kunto Aji lead the star-studded cast of "Klub Kecanduan Mantan".

Each podcast comprises 30 episodes. Users of the JOOX app can look forward to streaming new episodes of the podcasts at 5 p.m. every day, from May 5 to June 4.

The company has collaborated with popular Jakarta-based Gen FM radio station to ensure that the new podcasts will appeal to millennials’ diverse tastes.

JOOX Indonesia head Peter May said he was enthusiastic about bringing the art of acting into immersive audio shows.

“Our youth is deeply entrenched in music, films, and other forms of entertainment. Our contributions to the local film industry date back to the Galih & Ratna concert in 2017,” Peter said in a statement. (rfa/mut)
