A

s an effort to increase artistic literacy, the KAHE Community has launched a group exhibition featuring the artists of Maumere in Sikka regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The "Anak dan Rumah" (Children and the Home) exhibition showcases installation art and photography that examine how a warm home environment nurtures a child.

KAHE Community coordinator Dede Aton said the exhibition was part of the community’s effort to spotlight socially conscious art amid recent cases of domestic abuse, especially art that explores the concept of home and how it impacts child development.

“The ideal home serves as a space that nurtures a child. A home is not simply a physical structure, but also represents a deeply personal environment that encourages interpersonal communication between  children and parents,” Dede told The Jakarta Post.

He added that he hoped the exhibition could also start discussions on the vital importance of a compassionate home environment to counteract the recent string of child abuse.

The exhibition, which runs until May 14, showcases the works of KAHE Community members, as well as local artists in Maumere and several other regions. (rfa/wng)
