"Games are no longer an entertainment tool but also serve as an educational and advertising tool and can contribute to the national economy," said Bekraf infrastructure undersecretary Hari Sungkari in a statement quoted by kompas.com on Monday. "The gaming industry has also produced new professions, such as players, managers, casters, publishers and creators; all come with a clear career path."
Additionally, the event will feature an e-sports tournament called Clash of Titans involving eight professional and semiprofessional teams. A special area for visitors to try out augmented reality- and virtual reality-based games will be provided as well.
Other than digital games, Bekraf Game Prime 2019 is expected to showcase various board games made by local designers as well as toys and action figures from various communities and manufacturers. (nic/kes)
