As one of the newest participants in the 23-year-old international talent contest, Indonesia has in total won 80 medals since it first joined in 2015.
ndonesia's talented representatives won 19 medals at the 2019 World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA), which brought together actors, models, singers and variety artists from 66 countries in the United States from July 12 to 21.
Among the 19 medalists were the country’s youngest participant, Izabelle Kiara Kurniawan, who won a silver in the singing category for the junior age group from 8 to 10, and Exel Yeremia Tampilang, who received a medal for participating in the formal and casual modeling category. This year was Indonesia's first time participating in the modeling category.

“Children of the nation consistently excel in the singing category, especially in the vocal-self accompaniment category where they sing while playing instruments. Judges in the WCOPA have praised these children’s impressive abilities and unique appearances. Hopefully we could bring a more joyful show to the stage next year,” said WCOPA Indonesia deputy director Maristela in a statement.
WCOPA Indonesia helps prepare the country’s delegation to engage in the Olympic-style meeting. This year’s delegation consisted of 14 participants from Jakarta, Tangerang, East Java, Bali and North Sulawesi.
Auditions for the 2020 WCOPA for the country’s delegation are slated to open in August and those interested in participating can visit wcopaindonesia.com.
The 24th global meet is to be held from July 24 to Aug. 2 next year in Disneyland Anaheim, California, United States. (vny/kes)
