hort film Tak Ada yang Gila di Kota Ini (No One is Crazy in This Town) directed by Wregas Bhanuteja is set to compete at the Wide Angle: Asian Short Film Competition program at the 24th Busan International Film Festival.

Produced by Adi Ekatama from Rekata Studio, Tak Ada yang Gila di Kota Ini is to hold its world premiere at the festival, which will be held from Oct. 3 to 12 in Busan, South Korea.

Up to 300 films from 70 countries will grace 30 screens across the city during the event, vying for the attention of moviegoers.

According to a statement, the event is expected to attract 200,000 people, with 10,000 industry stakeholders from various countries to be invited.

Tak Ada yang Gila di Kota Ini was also written by Wregas based on celebrated Indonesian writer Eka Kurniawan's short story of the same name. Starring Indonesian actor Oka Antara, the 20-minute film follows an attempt by a big hotel director to get rid of people with mental disorders and toss them into the forest as the city gears up to welcome holidaymakers. However, Marwan (Oka) and his friends who are tasked with the job have a secret plan in store.

The 26-year-old director has previously won various awards for his work, including the Leica Cine Discovery Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 for short film Prenjak.

In addition to Oka, other names involved in the short film are Sekar Sari, Pritt Timothy, Jamaluddin Latif and Kedung Darma Romansha.

The film was shot in Gunungkidul regency in Yogyakarta and, just like Wregas, the entire crew are Yogyakartans. (kes)
