atches, jewelry and precious stones trade show Baselworld 2019 was held a few months ago and now the showcased collections at the fair are ready to enter the stores. Among the brands about to launch a new collection is Hublot, a relatively “young” Swiss luxury watchmaker known for giving birth to the “fusion” concept only a few months after its establishment.

Hublot has gathered a number of timepieces on a list called Hublot 2019 Novelties, to be launched at Jakarta’s The Time Place in November. Most of the pieces on the list are created in collaboration with prominent artists and brands, while the rest highlight rare dial size, special colors and material among others.

The Jakarta Post attended the collection preview and here is the full list of Hublot 2019 novelties:

Big Bang Sang Bleu

Swiss watchmaker Hublot launches Big Bang Sang Bleu II this year, a follow up to its collaboration with graphic designer and tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Buchi initiated in 2016 by the launch of Big Bang Sang Bleu.

Founder of Sang Bleu London tattoo studio, Buchi has many prominent clients including musicians Kanye West and Adam Lambert.

Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, said in a statement that Buchi and Sang Bleu helped bring the art of tattooing to reach new heights, and Buchi is considered to be able to incarnate the watchmaker’s willingness to merge the arts while bringing together fundamentally contrasting worlds. Highlighting forms of a glass and metal structure, the Big Bang Sang Bleu series is dubbed the “statement” watch.

“For this second collaboration, we wanted to reflect on this development by extending the motif across the case and hands,” said Guadalupe, adding that the motif extension illustrates the graphic style of the tattoo artist.

Big Bang Sang Bleu II has three-dimensional angles and edges, its motif cuts into its hexagonal bezel and carves into the sapphire crystal, contrasting to the hands with their geometric lines. Meanwhile, Hublot’s HUB1240 Unico manufacture self-winding chronograph movement could be admired from the dial that plays with transparency.

Big Bang Scuderia Ferrari 90th anniversary

As Italian race team Scuderia Ferrari celebrates its ninth decade, Hublot, as a long-standing partner, is taking part in the celebration by presenting the Big Bang Scuderia Ferrari 90th anniversary watch. Three limited edition models, all which illustrate the development of the materials used in car racing, are therefore conceived together with the Ferrari Design Center. This collaboration perfectly conveys the brand’s motto, “The Art of Fusion”.

The three models of the Big Bang Scuderia Ferrari 90th anniversary watch have a 45-mm-diameter and UNICO flyback chronograph with 72-hour power reserve, while the bezel takes inspiration from Formula 1 brake discs, being cut in ceramic carbon.

The early years and glorious past of Scuderia Ferrari is embodied in the first model through a platinum case, stitched perforated strap and a dial that evokes old-fashioned speedometers complete with a calendar. Present day Scuderia Ferrari is represented by the second model, with a 3D carbon-based case and a strap made of Nomex synthetic fiber that is fire-resistant and commonly used to make racing suits. Meanwhile, the third watch model, which leans on futuristic style, has a transparent case made from sapphire and a strap that adopts a Kevlar look.

Big Bang Unico White 42

Through a statement, Hublot reminds us of how the most iconic and timeless pieces in our wardrobes are white: Converse and Stan Smith, slim fits and jeans, shirts and T-shirts, dresses and possibly a tuxedo. The watchmaker eventually came up with a collection dressed in white, in a rare size to suit men and women alike: 42mm.

Big Bang Unico 42 white is dubbed neutral and timeless, relaxed and understated. It comes in two different shades of white, namely the Titanium White and the King Gold White. One of the bezel options has 126 diamonds, while the other could be fully paved with 296 diamonds.

Classic Fusion Ferrari GT

The possibilities for Hublot to collaborate with Ferrari are seemingly endless, as the pair recently presented timepieces with inspiration from the Gran Turismo universe.

Defining the Gran Turismo spirit as “driving over long distances at high speed in comfort and with style”, Hublot and Ferrari presents Classic Fusion Ferrari GT, with a case made of 3D Carbon which is lightweight but solid as a layer of protection to the Unico chronograph caliber (HUB1280). Designed in a contemporary style by Centro Stile Ferrari, the timepiece is crafted in the Maranello workshops. Hublot worked on its motor while Ferrari on the body.

Classic Fusion Ferrari GT has transparent sapphire crystal dial, revealing its high-precision mechanics of the Unico HUB1280 caliber. As the timepiece is born from a collaboration that involves Ferrari, you may expect the prancing horse to appear at 12 o’clock.

Classic Fusion Orlinski

The artistic and technological alliance between Hublot and artist Richard Orlinski -renown for pop art-style works including “Wild Kong” gorilla sculpture on the Croisette in Cannes and crocodiles in the sunshine of Miami Design District- has resulted in at least six Classic Fusion Orlinski watches.

Hublot and Orlinski’s creative partnership is characterized by a dodecagon bezel that plays with light and shade. The watches have a faceted dial, with a 40mm case in titanium or King Gold. While the bezel and dial could be monumental -even with numerous diamonds- the strap goes the understated way, in matte black rubber.

Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon

This edition of Hublot comes in a barrel shape, said to contain the spirit of the Big Bang. It is called Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon, with a 42mm dial encased in carbon fiber with black or blue occlusions and beats to the rhythm of HUB6020 tourbillon movement.

Among its special features is the “one-click” fastening system, for a quick and easy strap change.

Guadalupe said in a statement that Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon wraps up the very essence of Hublot, that despite the brand’s young age (founded in 1980), it already demonstrates authentic watchmaking substance, with a considerable amount of investment in research and development.
