Rock band Dewa 19 is set to embark on a tour in 2020 following the release of frontman Ahmad Dhani from jail

Ahmad Dhani, who was imprisoned for hate speech in January last year, was released on Dec. 30.

During his time in jail, the band continued to perform with his son, Dul Jaelani, replacing him on keyboards.

For the upcoming tour, Dewa 19 is scheduled to perform in six cities across the country, namely Bandung in West Java on Feb. 15, Yogyakarta on Feb. 22, Surabaya in East Java on March 14, Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan on March 21, Balikpapan in East Kalimantan on March 25, and Makassar in South Sulawesi on April 3.

Organized by Otello Asia, the tour will commemorate the 20th anniversary of Bintang Lima (2000), one of the band’s most successful albums.

Tickets will be on sale starting on Thursday in various categories, ranging from Rp 110,000 (US$8.05) to Rp 1,050,000 for presale tickets.

“In the year 2000, a Dewa 19 concert ticket was sold for Rp 20,000. Now Baladewa [nickname for fans of the band) have become richer. Therefore, they can afford more expensive tickets,” Ahmad Dhani said, smiling, during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com

Otello Asia CEO Sysan Ibrahim said more cities could be added to the tour.

“We want to finish the tour before the fasting month. [Possibilities to add] Jakarta is still being discussed. If we add Jakarta, it will be the closing of the tour and we will plan something special [for the concert],” Sysan said. (gis/kes)
