American learning platform Coursera is now offering 100 free online classes for those who wish to expand their knowledge while in self-quarantine.

nline learning platforms are taking advantage of a shift toward online learning as a result of lockdown measures being enforced in countries around the world.

One such platform is Coursera, an American company that is now offering 100 online courses free of charge for those who wish to expand their knowledge while in self-quarantine.

Many of the courses are taught by Ivy League schools, including Yale and Stanford, or offered by big tech companies such as Google and Amazon. 

Once enrolled, students have access to projects, reading materials and homework assignments.

Once a course is completed, a certificate of completion will be rewarded that can be added to a LinkedIn resumé.

To sign up for a course, pick the class you'd like to take on the website and click the "enroll for free" button. Afterward, click "purchase course" and your discount will be applied automatically at checkout.

The classes on offer cover a variety of categories, including health, coding, language, psychology, math and music, as listed in Business Insider. The courses are available for those with various levels of education, including high school and college students and adults.

Classes on Coursera normally come with a fee that can range from US$50 to hundreds of dollars depending on the subject and education level. The free courses will be available until May 31. (gis/wng)
