Gramedia offers free e-books, online book sale amid pandemic

A

mid the COVID-19 outbreak, publishing company PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama (GPU) has launched a program that allows readers to access selected e-books for free.

“It’s one of our ways to support the government’s self-quarantine policy amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” Gramedia corporate secretary Yosef Adityo told kompas.com.

The e-books are accessible for users of the Gramedia Digital mobile app, which is downloadable for free on Play Store and App Store.

“This program is available for three weeks. In each week, there’ll be six e-books that can be read for free,” said Yosef, adding that the first phase of the program would end on May 2.

Among the titles being featured this week are The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Aku Anak yang Berani, Bisa Melindungi Sendiri (I’m a Brave Child, I Can Protect Myself) by Watiek Ideo, and Momentum by Hermawan Kartajaya.

Bookworms who are quarantined at home can also opt to shop online for reading material at the Gramedia Online Book Fair, which offers up to 70 percent discounts on books until May 3.

The famous Big Bad Wolf (BBW) book sale is also currently holding an online bazaar event until May 3. (wir/kes)
